Application Deadlines
The application process varies depending on the province and the university. You should apply to study in Canada from one year before the start date. You should apply by March at the latest for the September intake, although if you’re applying for a popular course, apply earlier than this to optimize your chances of success. There’s usually a second intake in January or February of each year.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Canadian University
While depending on the university, level of education and the program you wish to study, the following is the basic eligibility criteria for seeking admission to a Canadian university.
There is a flexibility in admission for a Bachelor’s/Diploma or Certificate courses. You should get at least 6 / 6.5 overall IELTS score or TOEFL: PGT:550 minimum, or CPT:213 minimum.
For a post graduate/Master programs, at least 2-3 years of full-time work experience is required. You should also get GMAT: 580-600 minimum. IELTS score should be 6.5 overall with no bands less than 6 or TOEFL PBT: 580-600 or CBT:237-250 minimum. 4-year Bachelor’s degree completion with 70 % average and some schools may require written samples/copies of published work or portfolio as well.
For Undergraduate or Bachelors Level, you should complete 12th grade with 70%. TOEFL: PBT:580-600 minimum or CBT:237-250 minimum. 12th grade level Maths are also required.
Cost of Studying in Canada
What about the cost of studying in Canada? Well, when it comes to post-secondary education, tuition fees are generally lower than colleges and universities in Australia, the UK and the US.
To give you an idea of the costs, we might say that tuition can range from 1,800 per year to approximately 20,000 CAD per year for an undergraduate degree.
Similarly, the cost of accommodation, food and transport varies from city to city. One can say that living expenses for one year averaged around 12,000 in Canada.
